We are excited to announce open auditions for a production of the timeless classic, It's a Wonderful Life, directed by Anita Dalton.
Based on the critically acclaimed Frank Capra movie, Mary Elliott Nelson’s reimagining is a joyful story of love, hope and community.
Taking place in Bedford Falls, a small town in America, during the first half of the twentieth century.
Whilst the script is adapted for four actors, three of whom play multiple characters, I would like to have more actors having a small part to open the play up to more people, so if you do not want a large part, but want to be involved this may be for you.
Characters are as follows:
Main Characters:
George Bailey - the whole production is based around him and his life. (Played by James Stewart in the classic film.)
Clarissa Oddbody – George’s guardian angel. (Was Clarence in the film.) Scatty, easily distracted.
Uncle Billy – George’s uncle and Chairman of Bailey Brothers Building & Loan.
Mary Hatch – Became George’s wife.
Sam – George’s childhood friend.
Possibly Doubling Up:
Angel Joseph/Mr Randall/Ernie.
Mr Jethro Potter - The richest man in town, fairly nasty and devious/Charlie/Harry - George’s younger brother.
Bert the cop/ Mr. Martini - Bar owner, Italian.
Mr Gower - Drug store owner / Tom / Mr Welch - Teacher’s husband
Violet Bick -Mary’s friend / Mrs Thompson
Angel Gloria/Mrs Davies
Small crowd scenes made up of the actors we have.
